Seeking

clarity

in speaking and

writing

Would you like to engage with complex ideas more clearly and precisely in English? I offer lessons to advanced learners of English who enjoy taking a closer look at assumptions, following arguments closely, and unfurling perspectives—always in careful, nuanced language.

In our sessions, we read and discuss short essays, opinion pieces, or cultural commentary. You’ll learn to recognise rhetorical strategies, unfurl reasoning, and articulate your own views in accurate, well-structured English. I provide targeted language insight to support articulate and clear thoughts in speaking as well as in writing.

Whether you’re a university student, a professional, or simply a reflective thinker, these lessons offer a space to develop both your ideas and your language—through critical thinking in English.

What we focus on

Interpreting texts
We read and discuss carefully selected short texts—essays, commentaries, or excerpts from critical writing. The aim is to uncover key ideas, rhetorical framing, and underlying assumptions.

Analysing arguments
We examine the logic and structure of arguments. What makes a claim convincing? How do text manifest bias, credibility, or implicit manipulation? You’ll learn to recognise these elements and articulate your views on them in English.

Making your perspective clear
You’ll practise articulating your own ideas in response—verbally or in writing with a clear view on what to avoid and what to consider. I provide tailored feedback to support clarity, precision, and stylistic uniqueness.

Why is it important?

Today, clear thinking and precise communication matter more than ever. We constantly encounter opinions, assumptions, and persuasive language—often without being sure how to interpret them. Should we take these assumptions seriously, or is there a hidden agenda? Is this piece of advice genuinely helpful, or are we the targets of a marketing strategy?

Critical thinking helps us slow down and ask questions. It enables us to uncover how we are being influenced—and how to clarify our own position.

Critical thinking also supports us both in our professional and personal development. As we learn to recognise patterns of argumentation, we become more resistant to biased influence—and more aware of how language shapes our understanding. In this way, we sharpen our perception and expand our English language skills, enabling us to express our stance with greater nuance and clarity.
